“Oefentherapie Mensendieck” can be translated as Exercise Therapy. It exists almost a 100 years in The Netherlands. Over 2000 therapists are a member of the VvOCM , the Dutch coöp. of exercise therapists Cesar and Mensendieck.
Exercise Therapy is a paramedical treatment focussed on prevention and disappearance of complaints which are related to a unfavourable pattern of body movements, sometimes caused by a certain disease or deformity.
Exercise Therapy is an active form of creating awareness of your posture and body movement in relation to your physical complaints. An exercise therapist will coach you to choose a healthier way of moving and using your body until it becomes natural. This is how you yourself can diminish or even make your physical complaints disappear.
Exercise Therapy is also a prevention method for people who are at risk to suffer from physical complaints. For instance pregnant women, young children with early deformities or adults who work under extreme heavy circumstances or make repetitive movements.
